When Should You Replace Your Tires? Several signs tell you it’s time for new tires:

  • Tread depth — Tires have built-in wear indicator bars.
    When the tread is level with those bars, it’s time to replace them.

  • Cracks or sidewall damage

  • Bulges or bubbles forming on the tire

  • Unusual vibrations while driving

Why it matters: Worn tires reduce grip, increase the risk of skidding, make blowouts more likely, and can cause you to lose control of the vehicle. They also make your engine work harder and use more fuel.
